A Perfect Pair: DiGiorno Pizza and Veggies with Homemade Ranch Dip

Looking for the best foods to pair with pizza? One of the easiest ways to nutritionally balance our favorite DiGiorno Pizza is to pair it with a simple side dish like crispy veggies and Creamy Homemade Ranch Dip.

Thank you DiGiorno for sponsoring this post! All opinions and recipes are my own.

I think I’ve said (jokingly) on more than one occasion during the last few months, “Do I have to feed my children AGAIN?” While cooking is my love language and nourishing my family is one of my most important jobs as a mom, I am growing weary of making meals. However, that doesn’t stop me from hitting the grocery store regularly and leaning in to the frozen food aisle to help assist me with mealtime ideas. The options are endless, long lasting, budget friendly and most importantly, delicious.

In fact, when DiGiorno reached out to find the best foods to pair with pizza using fresh ingredients  I jumped on the opportunity. One of the easiest ways to nutritiously balance out any meal – like this delicious DiGiorno Original Rising Crust Pepperoni Pizza – is to pair it with a simple side dish using fresh ingredients. In fact, a good rule of thumb is to fill half of your plate with fruits and vegetables. That’s why I created this veggie board featuring crispy veggies and a homemade creamy ranch dip.

It’s easy to make a veggie board using ingredients you have on hand such as broccoli florets, celery stalks and carrots then pair it with a favorite ranch dip. Frances loves to use it for her DiGiorno pizza as well as carrots!

Convenient Meal Solutions in the Freezer

If you were to open my freezer at any time, you would find at least one DiGiorno Pizza in there. I love to stay stocked with a variety of flavor options because you can’t beat the convenience of having pizza boasting a crispy crust (my fave!) and fresh baked taste at the ready without having to wait for delivery. It is comforting to know that I always have something delicious to serve my family at all times.

Plus, with so many frozen options in the marketplace that taste great, use real ingredients and are affordable, it is nice to have the option to add DiGiorno Pizza to the dinner rotation. In fact, frozen prepared foods are economical and help cut down on food waste. Did you know that nearly 40% of the US food supply is wasted each year? That’s a lot of money! The average family throws out the equivalent of $1,600 in fresh produce. That’s why frozen food can really help save money and prevent food waste.

Best Foods to Pair with Pizza

Frozen meals are a nutritious, convenient and budget-friendly option that can easily be paired with any fresh side such as fruits and veggies, low-fat dairy and whole grains to create a balanced meal.

Here are a few clever side dish twists that I like to serve when we are having any DiGiorno Original Rising Crust Pizza for dinner:

Veggie Tray with Creamy Homemade Ranch Dip:

The first option is to make a veggie tray loaded with crispy carrot sticks, cucumber slices, celery sticks, broccoli florets, endive leaves and grape tomatoes. Serve a slice of pizza and pair with 1/2 to 1 cup of veggies and 2 tablespoons dip. We love ranch dressing in our household which is why I always keep my super simple ranch dip in the refrigerator. Flavorful Side Salads:

The second way to give frozen pizza a fresh spin is by pairing it with a simple side salad. Here are a few ideas to serve alongside your pizza:

  • Caesar Salad: Romaine lettuce + Parmesan + anchovies + Caesar dressing
  • Greek Salad: Romaine lettuce + olives + feta + roasted red bell peppers + olive oil
  • Brunch Salad: Arugula or watercress + grapefruit + avocado + champagne dressing

How do you balance your pizza plate? When I polled my Facebook audience, they said the best foods to pair with pizza were green salad, crispy veggies with dip and more pizza! Do you agree? Let me know in the comments.
