Some mornings are about survival. It is time to take back breakfast and embrace real life morning moments with these clever and quick breakfast solutions for when you’re in a rush.
Thank you to belVita Breakfast Biscuits for sponsoring this blog post (and embracing real life morning moments with a clever breakfast solution).
There’s enough crazy that happens around here before 8am that breakfast should be a no brainer. Am I right? But just like me, I have a hunch that you and I are probably in the same place—especially on a school morning—running in circles trying to get our children out the door with shoes on, teeth brushed, and stomachs fed.
Don’t get me wrong though. I love mornings. Sure, there’s the craziness of finding the exact pink hair bow Frances wants to wear while Ellie hunts down her other shoe (which is never where she left it!). But more than that, mornings are a moment to be together. Before our day really gets going I know I can count on having everyone in the same place at the kitchen table.
On most mornings, breakfast happens right when we wake up, so we head to the table for fuel before we face the rest of the day – like diving into those morning challenges of fixing a “bump-free” ponytail or finding the least wrinkled uniform shirt to wear.
While our breakfast choices vary from morning to morning, and because we move anything but quickly in the AM, we need something fast, and nutritious. Some mornings are about survival, I get it. We wake up late, have to hunt down some random object for a special day or project, and need to feed and walk Winston before landing in the car. And yes, there are mornings when they eat them in the car on the way to school. No shame!! You gotta do what you gotta do.
Quick Breakfast Ideas
Something fun and simple that the girls have been loving lately are parfaits layered with protein-packed Greek yogurt, berries, and crumbled belVita Cinnamon Brown Sugar Breakfast Biscuits or belVita Bites Chocolate Breakfast Biscuits (for crunch!). And it’s a double win for me. The girls love the taste, and I know they’re getting a breakfast that will provide nutritious steady energy to last them through their busy morning until lunch. belVita Breakfast Biscuits have 3 to 4 grams of fiber per serving (contains 7 to 9 grams total fat per serving) and 14 to 22 grams of whole grains.
Other breakfast ideas that I make quite often and keep on-hand are hard cooked eggs in the oven and mini crustless quiches cooked with veggies, cheese and meat. I “big batch” the recipes on the weekend, and save them to eat throughout the week.
For those mornings like the ones we’ll be having this summer when we’re out and about and need a midmorning pick-me-up, I keep belVita Protein Soft Baked Biscuits in my purse. With 10g of protein, 100% whole grains, and 8g of fiber, I feel great about my girls (and myself!) enjoying as a mid morning snack at the zoo or pool. And while we’re being honest, I’ll admit to sneaking one as a nutritious afternoon snack while I wait in carpool line. My favorite is belVita Soft Baked Banana Bread Breakfast Biscuits.
