There’s enough crazy that happens around here before 8am that breakfast should be a no brainer. Am I right? But just like me, I have a hunch that you and I are probably in the same place—especially on a school morning—running in circles trying to get our children out the door with shoes on, teeth brushed, and stomachs fed.
Don’t get me wrong though. I love mornings. Sure, there’s the craziness of finding the exact pink hair bow Frances wants to wear while Ellie hunts down her other shoe (which is never where she left it!). But more than that, mornings are a moment to be together. Before our day really gets going I know I can count on having everyone in the same place at the kitchen table.
On most mornings, breakfast happens right when we wake up, so we head to the table for fuel before we face the rest of the day – like diving into those morning challenges of fixing a “bump-free” ponytail or finding the least wrinkled uniform shirt to wear.
While our breakfast choices vary from morning to morning, and because we move anything but quickly in the AM, we need something fast, and nutritious. Some mornings are about survival, I get it. We wake up late, have to hunt down some random object for a special day or project, and need to feed and walk Winston before landing in the car. And yes, there are mornings when they eat them in the car on the way to school. No shame!! You gotta do what you gotta do.
Something fun and simple that the girls have been loving lately are parfaits layered with protein-packed Greek yogurt, berries, and crumbled belVita Cinnamon Brown Sugar Breakfast Biscuits or belVita Bites Chocolate Breakfast Biscuits (for crunch!).
