Take your basic banana bread to the next level with these moist and dense Chocolate Chip Banana Bread Muffins.
3 very ripe bananas
2 Tbsp butter (melted)
2 Tbsp sugar (optional)
1 tsp baking soda
1/8 tsp salt
3/4 cup whole wheat flour
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 cup dark chocolate chips (may also use mini chocolate chips)
Mash bananas with a fork. Stir in melted butter and mix until combined. In a separate bowl, combine sugar (if desired), baking soda, salt, and flours. Add banana mixture to flour mixture and stir just until moist. Fold in chocolate chips.
Spoon muffin mix evenly into lightly greased muffin cups.
Bake for 20-25 minutes at 350 degreesF or until a wooden pick inserted in the center of the muffin comes out clean.
Allow to sit in pan for 3-5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool.
